I think I've been bitten by the "Bag Bug". I've always had a thing for purses. Some say you can never have too many shoes but for me it's purses and totes. I've got my Juicy Couture, Coach and the Brahmin I'm carrying now but even they don't really compare to that special purse I've made yourself.
First, I want to tell you I think I've found the perfect "Quilt Show Shopping" tote that you can have ready for the International Quilt Festival in Rosemont, IL this Spring. It's the Twist Bag.
I made it reversible and put sturdy handles on it to tote around yards and yards of fabric. I have ideas for at least three more of these in various fabrics and with special touches depending on what I'm going to use it for. Watch for "My Twists".
There's an abundant supply of free patterns online for everything from a coin purse made out of candy wrappers to a purse made with duct tape.
I'm not going for the duct tape version but I've seen a lot of totes, purses, pouches and roll up things I'd like to make. I'd show you just one but 11 or 12 is better!
This Basket Style Bag is a classic that you can make from a multitude of fabrics.
I wish I had some vintage barkcloth. It would be perfect for this Shoulder Bag but I'm going to give it a whirl using a couple of antique feedsacks.
A dressy little Dinner Purse would be fun.
I've got a huge collection of antique buttons. A Button Bag Purse is a great way to show off a special part of that collection.
I might try to use this Pleated Pouch Bag and Clutch Bag as jewelry bags but they'd be perfect to carry for a special occasion.
Here's another little Clutch Purse where I can practice sewing piping in a seam.
I love this one! It's a Water Bottle Carrier.
This one just blew me away. I have to make several of these. It's a Purse Organizer. How clever is that? (thanks to www.thegivingflower.de for the use of her photo)
Here's a great pattern for a Zippered Pouch. Perfect to keep a little "mad money" in.
In order to make all these great purses we'll need a purse for our sewing tools. Here's a beautiful Hussif to store them in. It's almost too pretty to use.
If you haven't seen enough to be bitten by the "Bag Bug" take a look at the 55 Bags over at HGTV. They have instructions for the Duct Tape purse. Maybe that's the one for you!
