Bags & Totes to Schlep Your Stuff

I did spend my day off this week working on tote bag and purse patterns along with some time on the phone researching a few things. It inspired me to revamp the Schlep Bag instructions and do something of my own. That was last Wednesday. It’s now Friday the 7th and I’m actually getting back to all this. Have you ever sewn with paper? I don’t usually do that but tried to work on this during a break at the shop. I figured paper and tape would be a lot faster than needle and thread at this point. Now the question of the day! Should I place the focus fabric, charm square or Midget Block in Section A or Section B? I want your suggestions! Everyone who emails me with their choice will be entered in a drawing for a copy of the Week by Week Sampler pattern in the original 4″ size. I need to hear from you by September 30th. I’ll be testing positions, hopefully with fabric, during that time and will post pictures for you to see. I’m certainly not lacking for fabric choices. I bought the coolest purse / tote from Pam’s Boutique Bag Originals. I love it! Even Clutch can’t take his eyes off it. Yes, I could have made it myself but Pam’s prices are so reasonable, she does beautiful work and even let me choose my own colors. What more could you want? If you’d like to ask about ordering one of these for yourself you can reach Pam at geegnc@cs.com. No affiliation, but a satisfied buyer who would order again. Oh yeah, her eBay name is: stella1403. Since I started this post last week I’ve added paper handles to the bag. I’ve got two options for lining it. One will give you a reversible bag and the other will have inside pockets to keep you organized. If I get finished with the Block of the Month patterns that need to be posted and two of the Midget Block patterns too, I’ll take a couple more pictures for you to see. This will be much more than just a purse size bag. You’ll be able to make it tote size, almost like a Schlep Bag but with more options. It’s a crappy weather day here. The wind is blowing wildly and it’s raining from time to time. We need the rain so I won’t complain but wind in woods can be dangerous. As soon as Clutch recovers from eating too much ice cream yesterday we’ll take a walk up the driveway to check on all our trees. We still have some big limbs hanging precariously from last years terrible storms. Okay, off to work on the patterns and see if I can find the missing Just For Baby block drawings I know are here somewhere! Related Pages |

I was going to say section A, but I think the block/focus fabric might be better seen in the middle, so decided section B. Nothing like wiffle-waffling. I love the bag, by the way! Janet P.
I like section A. I think your block or focus fabric would show up better in section A.
Lobe all the patterns. Thanks for all your hard work.

I’d go with the midget block in position A.
Thanks for all your efforts!

Use paper pattern A for focus point

I would place the focus fabric, charm square or Midget Block in Section B?
Esther
I would place the focus fabric, charm square or Midget Block in Section A. But, then again it would show off more in the B section when carrying the bag.
Okay - I’ll go back to the original Section A.

I vote for the focus fabric in “A”.
I think “A” is the best place. The whole block/piece will show that way and not be divided by the fold. If I follow the layout, that would also put whole blocks prominently on both the front and the back as well.
Speaking of bags…..
The bag shown in your photos auctions 012 thur 20. Can you tell us more about it?
Thanks
I would place the focus fabric, charm square or Midget Block in Section B and mirror image another block across from it. I love your ideas and thanks for the State Fair Sampler blocks and Midget Blocks

I like the accent in the B position.
I think Section A should be a Midget Block. Wouldn’t that be the best place to show off your wonderful pieceing of those little blocks!?
I like to focus pattern in the “A” position.
I think that Section B should be a Midget Block. Thanks for a wonderful website and great patterns.
I think the midget block would look great in section A. Thanks for all your work and the great patterns.
I think section “B”.
Hi! I love your site! Thank you for posting the little blocks. I really appreciate this. I think Choice B would work well! Tammy in rainy Mn
Midget block in Section A
Midget block! Midget block!! I have just started your midget block quilt, and I am currently very enamored with it….
