I also was attacked by the cookie monster this year. We figured that with 17 grandkids, the easiest way to celebrate with them was to bake. Nevermind that my hubby didn't let me know that he had never made or iced these special creations. Decided to make a double batch, so there were plenty of cookies for all. So far, so good. My oven is electric, and fairly old, so like you, the temp. can be off a degree or two. First tray in, darn, the cats have decided to need dinner now, so forgot to set timer.
What is that smell? Oh No! I had a beautiful tray of REALLY dark Angels! Oh well, maybe the dogs won't mind! So I adjusted the cooking time to just 5-6 minutes....and perfection. Now comes the icing. Canned frosting is a God send! Add a few drops of food coloring, and we're off! Three hours later, 1 dozen cookies left, we are TIRED! Wonder if these last dozen can freeze well? They did! Love your site! Happy stitching...Pam
