This breath of spring block now has a few more layers, some hidden stitches found and a cute cheddar bird but I think it’s complete.

Here’s the center flower with the additional layer outline stitched and the tiny bird.

It turns out the two flowers on the sides of the block are not the same as I [...]

Last night I kept looking at the two block pictures I uploaded for this month’s Beyond The Cherry Trees block and darn it all, there were hidden stitches staring me right in the face. It looked like a simple fix of just adding the quilting designs to each side of the block. Not too worry, [...]

I hope everyone’s enjoying the blocks from the Cherry Tree quilt. It was fun taking pictures earlier this week. It’s amazing what you see when a quilt is hanging and your eye takes it in all at once.
Block 6 is like the breath of Spring we’re longing for in snow covered Michigan. It’s filled with [...]

It’s been a busy time around here with all the parties and family gatherings for Christmas. I hope you had a very Merry Christmas and were able to sneak a few stitches in here and there.

I think I’ll keep the tree up until just after New Years. I’m not quite ready to pack it all [...]

I’ve had questions from several of you asking how I’m doing the applique on my blocks for the Beyond The Cherry Trees quilt.
I’ve tried just about every technique there is but once I learned how to back baste I’ve been using that the most.

Clutch is always my happy helper and recommends if you’ve never tried [...]

Clutch and I can get lost for hours looking for and sewing the hidden stitches on the Cherry quilt. There aren’t any special quilting designs hidden among the pineapples on Block 3 but I did do some fabric investigating trying to get a better idea of what the original colors looked like.

Oh my gosh!!!
I just [...]

I’ve been working on the December block but ended up down on a corner
where a feather, three little rings and a couple of flowers appeared.
It’s midnight – off to bed.

At first glance you think these blocks are pretty simple red and green applique designs but let me tell you, nothing is symmetrical, square or straight in any way. What a dilemma! How much do you change? How symmetrical do you make them? What to do when a hidden quilting design overlaps from one block [...]

I’m behind in posting the pattern for block 2 of Beyond The Cherry Trees.
I purposely chose what I thought would be a simple block for November because it’s a busy month and we have the Thanksgiving holiday.
So much for great plans!

Here’s part of my “to do” list -

Draft and clean up the Nov. Beyond The [...]
