Jane’s Redwork Embroidery

Jane’s Redwork Embroidery
Each month I’ll post redwork embroidery patterns from the hundreds of motifs drawn by the designers at the F.A. Wurzburg Co., the leading manufacturer of quilt kits and art needlework items in the early 1900s. Jane Wurzburg was in charge of the design department and created hundreds of patterns during her 27 years working there. In her honor, these blocks are named Jane’s Redwork Embroidery. Each block will fit on a 9″ block.
| Block 101 | Block 102 | Block 103 | Block 105 | Block 106 | |
| Block 107 | Block 108 | Block 109 | Block 110 | ||
| Block 113 | Block 114 | Block 115 | Block 116 | Block 117 | Block 118 |

I love the resources of this site!
I was trying to look at “Jane’s Redwork Embroidery” and could not get to it(find it). Is this a free pattern? This is the first time I visit your Website. Any information you can give me will be appreciated.
I can’t find “Jane’s Redwork Embroideery”. Please help!
Margie,
When you first visited the site I hadn’t posted the blocks yet. It’s taken me longer than I anticipated to get things organized. There are links to the first two blocks posted now and I’ll keep adding more along with some special, just redwork projects. Click on the “Free Stuff” and then the “Jane’s Redwork” link in the list on the right hand side of the page. Each block is on the next page and when you click on the block, a PDF file will open so you can print off the pattern. You do need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer. It’s a free program and you can download it here:

I love redwork and PaperPiecing. Your site is my new favorite. Keep up the great work I can’t wait to tell my friends. I am so excited to have some redwork patterns they are hard to find. Thanks Anna
Thank you all for your wonderful comments. I’m finding that there’s a real desire for more redwork patterns. I’ll try to upload a new design for you each week.
What a great site! I absolutely LOVE your designs and want to thank you for making them free to us. Definitely one of my favorite websites! I am enamored with the oldfashioned redwork patterns…yours are wonderful!
Thank you for making this free. This is a wonderful site to spend hours in looking and planning that next project. I really enjoy the redwork designs. Again, thank you! Sue
Your site and free offers was passed via the Dear Jane list. Love the opportunity to try the Redwork but would appreciate it if you could drop the red frame–uses too much toner. Thanks. Anna
I am printing these patterns for a friend who is love with redword and your patterns for which she is eternally grateful because her income is very limited. I, too, would like to see the red border eliminated as Anna Foss suggested because of the amount of ink it uses. Thank you again for being such a giving person.
Some of you have mentioned you’d like the red border eliminated because of the ink it uses from your printer. I understand your concern and would like to suggest this solution.
When you select the print function, tell your printer to print the page in ‘grayscale’. That eliminates the use of any of your colored ink and only uses the less expensive black.
Hi, have just discovered this site and its wonderful, will there be more redwork patterns to come and how do I obtain any previous ones.
Love the patterns. Thanks for being so generous!!!
I have only just now found your GREAT site. It is wonderful to find redwork patterns and for FREE !!! I have just fallen in love with redwork and am going great guns. Thanks for the tip on printing in grayscale.

Hello,
I just found your Redwork Site. It is very beautifull. My english isn´t good, but I hope you understand me!
I have a question: Now I found block 101-112. Cann I find the other ones too? From 1 up to now??
Can you help me??
Greetings
Guilitta
These are fabulous! I love redwork and can never get enough. Thanks so much for posting them.
I really love the redwork patterns. Are you going to be posting anymore soon?
Guilitta
Your English as displayed in your message above is wonderful and absolutely understandable.
Gayle began the pattern numerical sequence with 101, so there are no blocks numbered lower than that. So as of Feb 26, 2007, there are twelve blocks online with the last one being 112. There is no fixed schedule as to when new patterns are added.
Gayle generously offers us these wonderful free patterns and must make time to create them in between her real life obligations and requirements of running her business. So we’ll just be patient and check back each month.
Have a great week!

I belong to a quilt guild that meets every Wednesday morning. I have made a notebook with all of your free patterns and took it to guild with me yesterday. Boy was it really a big hit!! I told several of the girls about your website. I think it is a wonderful site and I have it bookmarked. You are truly a wonderful person to do this FREE for all of us. Many thanks, especially for the redwork patterns. They are my favorite.
I want to say thanks for the freebie redwork patterns, I love the old fashioned look they add to my projects.I appreciate your time and effort you put into all that you do for us on your other pages also. Dolly in AZ
It has been some time since you have posted any Redwork patterns and I was wondering if you would be posting any soon? I love all of your patterns.
Thank you for taking the time for all the free patterns you have given us.

I am really enjoying Jane’s embroidery blocks, especially the ones with children in them. They remind me of the coloring book pictures I had as a child. Wish I had saved ALL of those. Thank you so much for putting them all up. I’m also enjoying the quilt patterns. Your notes on your trip to Shipshawana have been very interesting.
I just found your site by googling REDWORK. Your site is AWESOME. I am a recent widow and money is very tight. Thank for the free patterns, gives me a chance to work both my hands and my mind. It helps block out the past unpleasant memories of my dear spouse death. These really are the original old patterns, some I remember from my childhood, THANKS AGAIN. Debra in WET Kansas
I was looking for an easy pattern to try redwork, and choose block 109. Maybe not the easiest! but I loved the design.
Thanks for taking the time and effort to post the patterns on your website!
Have just found your wonderful site.I am writing from Ireland and am in a little group of stitchers starting up in Sept. Thank you for the pleasure your site has given me so far.
Gayle,
I am so glad you are back and am now printing the State Sampler and the Vine pattern. I am very much into redwork and was wondering when you might print more of them. I hate to sound ungrateful because I know you have had a heck of a summer and are very busy. I really do appreciate all you do. You are a wonderful person to do these patterns for us. But please, are there anymore redwork patterns in the near future for us?
Lexie

I found your site when looking for borders, and motifs. I sure was surprised and glad. Your free downloads of redwork are great. Thanks for being there.
I want to thank you for the redwork designs. I haven’t done anything like this before and am excited about getting started.
Some of the blocks for redwork BOM fall under the menu on the right side and I cannot access them - I believe the numbers are: 106,112,115,118
Also how can i get earlier blocks - prior to 101
i love this web site thanks so much for the patterns of redwork
Thank you so much for your allowing me to copy the Redwork Patterns..I have been wanting to make a red and white quilt, but could not find the right patterns I felt I needed. May God continue to bless you and yours…
Will you be posting anymore Redwork patterns in the near future. I love those patterns and will be looking forward for more. Thank you for all you have done. Also are you going to be posting anymore Victorian shoes on the online store BOM’s?
Please let me know.
Love these patterns and I thank you for posting them. Was wondering tho, do you have an exact number of blocks for this project? Trying to plan out how much fabric to buy for this…..but if this is an on-going-who-knows-how-many-blocks-this-will-be kinda project (lol) that is fine by me! Just love the designs so!
Thanks!
Barbara
I’ve been “out of it” for 2 years dealing with medical issues and have just now come on and found your redwork patterns. Are the ones prior to #101 still available?
I love the variety of the designs!
Karen
Thank you
Hi, Thank You for taking the time and trouble. the Redwork is something new to me and I am enjoying it. You must have a gererous soul. Cheers.
Many of you have asked where blocks #1 - 100 are. Sorry to confuse everyone but I just started numbering them with #101. Rest easy, you haven’t missed any of them.
Will there be any more of these? Gosh I feel bad asking that question, when you are giving us the Midget blocks and the March motifs and, and, and. But I guess if you don’t ask you never know. I sure like these and if there are no more would you know where something like these could be obtained. I didn’t see any on your for sale site so just wondered, guess I could have missed them. I want to say thank you for sharing so much, I really appeciate your sharing as I am sure others do as well.
