Hi,
I have a terrible time quilting with my new singer-top thread loops, snags and breaks on the underside. I've tried slowing down along the curves but nothing seems to help. I will be fine for several inches and than I feel the quilt snagging and being held from below. Any suggestions before I go back to stich - in the ditch for this quilt??
Thanks so much

Gayle,
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I just finished my first quilt top and am scared to death to quilt it. This article answered almost every question I have, so far. After reading this, I think I'm ready quilt. Wish me luck!

I quilt with a 301 in a table made for it by Singer. I love it. The stitches are very nice and the machine just purrs. I've never used it on a frame but I've heard it works.

I really enjoyed all of your information. I have a 301A Singer and a PFAFF 1132 and have only recently been made aware of free motion quilting and am anxious to try it. First, I have to find the right foot. But, thank you for sharing your information and knowledge.

Did you do free-motion quilting on the Singer 301? I have one and have tried it, and it was no-go. I had tension problems and skipped stitches all the way though my test squares. Plus I spent three hours rigging a darning foot to work on the machine.
