  • To enlarge or reduce the size of an appliqué or embroidery pattern on a copy machine you’ll need to determine the percentage to use for that process. It’s a simple mathematical process that’s easy to remember. Take the size you want the design to be and divide it by the size it actually is. That will give you the exact percentage to set the copy machine at. For instance– if you want to enlarge a 6” design to 8”: 6 divided by 8 equals 1.33 so you would enlarge it 133%. If you want to reduce a 14” design to 8”: 8 divided by 14 equals .57 so you would reduce the design by 57%.
  • Here’s one I found on an Australian site. I haven’t tried it yet but will post my results. To resharpen your rotary cutters, fold up a piece of aluminum foil so that you have several layers and then just cut through it several times and your cutter will be resharpened. Works great!!

    Hello,
I am looking for a pattern for the large size folded star. The pattern that I am looking for has a diameter of 16 to 18 inches. Recently spent 3 days in Lancaster county Pennsylvania – among the Amish and when I asked for the pattern they simply smiled and said we don’t use a pattern…..Oh boy. I did find a pattern for the small size and purchased it, but the large size instructions would be extremely helpful. I appreciate any information that you may offer me – Please email me – thank you so much,
    Sue
