Finally…..A Free Quilt Pattern

Things didn't go quite as I planned last week. Rob surprised me by coming north at the end of last week so I set aside pattern writing and haven't been able to get back at it until tonight.

Sparkling Sampler-3

This first little freebie is for a quilt called Sparkling Sampler. I used it when teaching foundation paper piecing. There is a foundation pattern for each of the little blocks and basic instructions for the quilt assembly. Most of you are veterans at making small blocks after all the Midget Blocks we've stitched. Speaking of Midget Blocks, I posted a new block there too.

Have fun with this pattern. I first made the blocks with an off-white background and they were cute but I just love the way a black background makes the colored fabrics sparkle.
It would be soft and sweet in pastel floral fabrics, wonderful and warm in Autumn colors, and bright and jolly in Christmas prints!

I'm finishing up another pattern for you. It's called Tumbling Triangles and is based on a pieced antique quilt. You do need to make bunches of quarter square triangles but it's perfect to use as a "leader quilt" while you're working on another project.
