Red, White & You! – Midget Block 125 – Tribute to Betty Ford

Former first lady Betty Ford was laid to rest last week. She along with her husband, formerPresident Gerald Ford were from Grand Rapids, Michigan (my hometown) and are both now buried there at the Gerald R. Ford Museum.

I was in Grand Rapids when former President Ford was laid to rest and waited in line with many other to pay my respects. I'm in Traverse City for the summer so I couldn't pay my respects in person for the passing of Betty but felt a Midget Block in her honor was the least I could do. This Red, White & You Midget Block is called Betty's Choice. I hope you'll enjoy making it.

July 20th is always a difficult day for me and this year marks the tenth anniversary of my Dad's passing. We're sweltering under blistering heat not too different from the year he died but it's a bit more bearable for Clutch and I being in one of his favorite places. I miss you Daddy.............

Gayle, the slide show honoring your dear father is truly beautiful. He must have been a wonderful, kind man. His love of family shows throughout the show.
Thank you so much for sharing and for posting block 125 as well. I always thought that Betty Ford was such a down to earth lady. She conquered many trials throughout her life giving hope to the rest of us.

I loved the slideshow! I hear you guys talk all the time about “Grandpa” and it was so nice to see some photos I’ve never seen before. And the photo of P and Kev winning ribbons?! Too adorable.

Hi, Gay! I’m so glad I found your site again. I had collected most of the first 50 Midget Blocks on my old computer, but when my computer was stolen, I forgot all about them. I just found my collection in an old external hard drive, and came to see what was new! I can’t believe you are up to #125. I’ve been coveting a Red & White quilt after seeing the photos of the Infinite Variety quilt show, and although I don’t need another project, I see a R&W Midget Block quilt in my very near future!

Thanks for a great website, I’m going to add you to my blog links on my blog at http://www.ufosandubis.blogspot.com. Terri in BC
