If you've been keeping up with the Just Takes 2 quilt blocks you'll be ready to put together the second section of the quilt with today's instructions. I don't think this section is quite as complicated as the first one so you shouldn't have any problems setting your blocks together.
Block 47
Block 48
Block 49
Block 50
I used the back basting method of applique on this Star and Crescent block. There's a tutorial on back basting HERE
I traced the block onto the wrong side of the pattern and added guide lines 1/2" from the outside edge of the block to position my 7" background square for marking.
Trace the design on the wrong side of your background fabric.
Baste and applique the red crescent.
Back baste the star background right on top of the red crescent.
The appliqued star background.
Finish the block by appliqueing the star on top.

Block 52
I can't think of anything else I need to tell you so click on the link below to get your blocks.

I notice that the picture of block 52 on your blog is checkered squares. However, the pdf file has flying geese for block 52. Which is correct?
The Flying Geese is the correct block. I grabbed the wrong picture when writing the post – thanks for catching that!
Looks like blocks 51 and 52 are not sewn into Section B. Correct?
Save those two for later!
Hi I cannot open the Blocks for 1 July 2012, keeps telling me the file was damaged and cannot be repaired. Anyone else having this problem?
Are there instructions for sewing the second section together, or just a photo?
The assembly instructions for the second section (Section B) is included in the patterns for July 1
The file seems to be working okay from here – give it another try. Let me know if you’re still having trouble.
I am also having problems opening the PDF.Tried several times
Got it now
I am not able to find the instructions for putting section B together. I went to July 1 but was not able to find it.
The July 1 patterns have been retired to the Online Store. You can order them HERE
Kay is so helpful especially to someone new to the internet and her quilt patterns are outstanding! Am loving the Smithfield bom.
