Thursday at the AQS Show

It was a busy, fun filled day. There was lots to do and lots to see. I had lunch with friends - Rosemary, Carla, Connie and Jeanne. We talked more than we ate and shared shopping treasures we'd found. The AQS Show has very strict rules about what you can put on the internet from the show so I'm still working on a way to share the hundreds of pictures we've taken. For today I'll let you see my shopping treasures. I think you'll be surprised to see what I bought. I know I am!

Roll n Rulers! I haven't bought rulers in years and years but these have great potential for designing, marking, quilting and other things I'm sure. You can draw straight lines, angles, circles and even ovals. I love ovals and I think that's what got me. They come with instruction booklets and there are YouTube videos showing you how to use them too. What do you think?

The next thing I went for was.............more rulers! I couldn't believe it either but I've been dreaming about quilts with lots and lots of pieces lately. These Bloc-Loc rulers are for trimming your half square triangle units. I can just see massive amounts of half square triangles in my future.

Wait til you see the cool "rotate your block" part. I think I'll use these rulers a lot.

My next purchase was really a treat to myself. It's Karen Kay Buckley's scissors. Everyone who has them just raves about how wonderful they are. They look like a larger version of my favorite applique and embroidery scissors by Elan I talked about in the post for Rosie - Wild Rose Needlebook tutorial so I'm looking forward to using them.

I also bought a pattern, leather handles and accessories to make a purse. Now comes the fun part - what fabrics to use!

I've been watching for official online information I can share with you about the show and here's a few more things to watch.

The "check engine" light came on in the car on my way home from the show last night. That's never a good sign and the men in my life tell me it's a transmission issue. That is also never a good sign so..............stay tuned.

Ack! You’re severely testing my will power here! I love gadgets and that Roll N Ruler definitely qualifies…maybe that will be my birthday present to myself, never mind that it’s more than a month early. 🙂

I live in Australia and was over in Paducah this year – saw the demonstration of the Roll n Ruler and had to buy it because i too love ovals. So far i’ve only used it for circles but know that it is going to be a great tool.

    Hi Gay,
I too, saw the rolling rulers and remembered that I had gotten them for school many years ago. I was sure that they were in the art stuff I had given my elementary school teacher daughter so promptly retrieved them – well only one. Not sure what happened to the other one. But I totally missed the half square trimming ruler and that would be a great one to have. I currently have a bunch of HST on the ironing board awaiting trimming – drat. Nice show in Grand Rapids. Downtown was lovely and welcoming. Great food too.
