Dream Garden Block of the Month – Block 2

I know it's not the 15th today but since it's Valentine's Day I decided to post the second block for the Dream Garden quilt a little early. Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

dream garden quilt center I never get tired of looking at the quilt! In studying it though I did start to chuckle as I looked over the embroidered blocks. If I had to embroider that same block over and over and over I'd go crazy!

Dream Garden Embroidered block trio Check this out? It looks like this quilter got bored too! Several of the blocks are the same but there are quite a few where she changed things up a bit. Good for her! A quilter after my own heart! I'll be giving you the embroidery block in a few months and you'll get the border early too so you can work on them as you do your applique blocks.

The second block is a pretty one with lots of embroidery. I love the way the long/short satin stitching defines the shape of the petals. Lazy daisy stitches, french knots, buttonhole stitching............you'll be busy with needle and thread working on this block!

You can download the blocks each month from the Dream Garden page - HERE

This quilt runs through October 2015 so if you're impatient and don't want to wait for the rest of the blocks, you can purchase the entire pattern in the online store on THIS PAGE.

Thank you for this quilt. I am using my grandmother’s stash (rescued from the trash after she died and her house was cleaned out). I have just the right colors of solids from the 40’s 50’s and a few from the 60’s. The floss I am using is Coats and American thread company given to me by a friend’s grandmother.

What a beautiful block for February! Thank you, Gay for sharing this amazing treasure! I am using polka dots and some solids for my blocks.
If anyone is interested there is a Sentimental Stitches Flickr group to share your photos of the blocks you have completed. I know I would love to see them!

Thank you so much for this beautiful project. Maybe because of Benjamin Biggs, I had totally missed this, so I am also glad Block 1 is still here!
