December 1 Quilt Blocks and Final Assembly at Sentimental Stitches™

I’m sorry to be so late getting this posted but things have been busy around here and I just didn’t get to writing the instructions as soon as I’d hoped to after getting back from Shipshewana. There are 14 pages of instructions today so buckle up and get ready to rock and roll!
It’s hard to believe it’s time for the final set of blocks in the Just Takes 2 quilt and we can put all those sections together in one spectacular quilt but here we are! The final assembly is not without it’s challenges but there’s nothing you can’t handle. Remember, a picture is worth a 1000 words and there’s plenty when you get to that part.

If you planned to add a border (or borders) to your quilt you’ll be happy to know Brenda will have some suggestions for you on Dec. 15th. I haven’t decided if I’m going to stop here or not. For right now I’m going to enjoy looking at the blocks and embroidery – I’ll think about borders tomorrow!

  1. Gay and Brenda — Thank you does not seem adequate for all your work on this wonderful quilt. It was so much fun to see what quilt/pattern from the NY show you came up with each month. THANK YOU! Hugs, Edith

  2. I agree wholeheartedly. Thankyou.

  3. I agree, thank you so much – this has been such a great adventure. Mine is far from this stage but I am working steadily through it and looking forward to seeing it looking like this!

    • Thank you so much for all your work on this project! The completed top is beautiful. I look forward to catching up (i.e., finishing the applique blocks ) so I can put my quilt together.

  4. A question about the embroidery in some of the blocks. did you complete the block then do the embroidery or did you do the embroidery first and then add it to the block?

    • I constructed my block first and then added the embroidery to it.

      • thanks Gay. I really like the red with the embroidery.

  5. I agree with all the comments- this project has taken me to places unexplored before! I’m complete only up through the summer when the July wedding of my daughter got me sidetracked. But I have all the instructions saved and printed off. One of my top goals for 2013 is to complete this quilt. Thank you again SOOOO much!

  6. A sincere THANK YOU for sharing this project with us – it has been a wonderful experience!

  7. The quilt is beautiful. I am way behind in construction because I had surgery in my hand, but I’ll finish it. Thank you so much for all your hard work and love of quilting.

  8. Thank you ever so much for these lovely blocks and all the hard work that went into designing this quilt. I will always remember running to the computer on the days the patterns were posted. I looked forward to each and every post! From the wonderful red and white quilt exhibit to this quilt, fond memories. Thank you again!!

  9. What color or brand red would you recommend? And would you pre-wash it?

    • I don’t have any special recommendation. I used P&B Color Spectrum for my red (snow for my white) but there are beautiful shades of Moda Bella Solids and Kona too. I didn’t prewash my fabrics but will use a color catcher if I ever wash the quilt.

  10. J’ai envoyé la photo du mien terminé (mais sans bordures) et je ne le vois pas sur le blog?!
    Bises et bonne soirée

  11. It is late but i just want to say thanks for sharing this wonderful just takes 2 pattern! I’m only working at block 24 but this year is going to be my ufo year and i’m hoping to make a lot of progress!
