Very happy to say I have the top together. You will notice I had to shuffle many of the blocks around in order to balance out the colors. Very pleased with the end result, now just to figure out how to quilt it! I very very please to say I am all caught up. The hand piecing nearly did me in! I chose not to applique the melons, but rather to hand piece everything on the compass block. I also chose to machine applique the large orange block. I have confirmed some things about myself – I love paper piecing, I still really dislike hand applique, but I never thought I would see a benefit to hand piecing certain blocks. The feathered star was a lot of work, but I am very pleased with the results. Very happy that I am keeping up with the blocks as they come.
