Aug. 1

August 1 blocks are complete – now to start the Aug. 15 blocks. The star block went together much easier than I was expecting it to thanks to excellent directions.

  1. Your star looks wonderful

    • Thanks,Ursula. The tutorial helped a lot, teaching me how to accurately align the seams of this block.would I make another one of these? Yes! Would I make a lone star quilt – don’t know. that would be a challenge. Making this block helps me appreciate lone star quilts even more.

  2. just gorgeous. I’m way behind- hoping to catch up soon.

  3. I’m so excited about this – hope you join and use the new virtual design wall. Right now we can only do squares, sashing, borders and cornerstones, but version 2 is already being worked on for on point, rectangles, etc. This came about as a result of my computer crashing and taking the Publisher documents of the Barbara Brackman 2011 and my two Dear Jane quilts (30’s repo and CW repo) with it.
Every quilters dream! Whether you have a large sewing area and a large design wall, or you have a small sewing area and no design wall, you are going to love this. We have developed “My Virtual Quilt”, a system whereby you can take a photo of your block(s), upload them onto your computer, join “My Virtual Quilt”, load your photo and start designing your quilt. Or, you can upload all the photos of your quilt blocks, and arrange them as you make them, as I am doing with my Barbara Brackman 2011, Barbara Brackman 2012 and my two Dear Jane quilts. You will also see a block I have pulled from my Just Takes 2 and rotated it to make an interesting design! You will be able to make a block and store it away until it is time to sew the quilt together, thereby only handling it a couple of times.

    • sounds exciting. My computer also crashed last month taking with it a few major projects I had not backed up. But at least I had already printed off all the JT2 patterns, all the Farmer’s wife patterns and all the Dear Jane patterns. But 2 new projects I was working on have to start over. At least my computer was still on warranty so did not cost any $$. And had all my masters documents backed up.
      thanks Sandi

  4. I have Carbonite now, wish I would have had it before it crashed. But, when you are handed lemons, you make lemonaid – new website with a virtual design wall that all quilters can use!
