Yesterday I finished the last of the blocks for Sections C & D. Here they are pinned all over my design wall. I substituted a different pattern for Block 72 as it was testing my patience too much. I also substituted a Moon Over the Mountain block for the signature block. My self-imposed deadline for completion of the quilt is May 30th. I just might make it.

Well, I’m a tad behind, but have not given up. Section B was completed today. I’m hoping to have everything finished by the end of May 2013. The new Schoolhouse Quilt looks quite interesting, but I’ve promised myself to not start on it until my “Wine & Lime” Just Takes 2 is done. Thank you for all your hard work, Gay and Brenda. I would not have tried many of these blocks without you.

Block 33 was another paper pieced one, so I tried a method I saw online — print on dryer sheets. No need to remove because it is so thin. Each segment turned out OK as I was able to see through the dryer sheets to align the fabric. But after sewing all the segments together, the points do not match. Not much better than paper. Block 34 I hand stitched like a big Jane block. Block 35 I rotary cut all the pieces and stitched it up on the machine. Turned out good, except for the triangle at...

I just could not bring myself to paper piece Block 29. I thought about it, but just got a big knot in my stomach for the thinking. So, I treated it like a big Jane block instead, using freezer paper patterns, and hand pieced it. I really like how it turned out. Paper piecing will be a last resort for me from now on.
