Diagonal Measurements of Squares
When teaching I’m always asked how to determine the diagonal measurement of a quilt block. The principle is the same for a quilt block as it is for a square. To calculate the finished diagonal measurement of a block, multiply the finished size of the block by 1.414. The chart below shows the diagonal measurement of a few common block.
