Dear Jane Shipshewana Retreat – Friday

Advertisements:

Dang! I was going to be up early, do some stitching, swap the 3" blocks with the "Friday at 11" girls and be on my way to shop the town but when I saw over 811 emails in my inbox I had to pause.

Here's a quick note on the most asked about quilt from last night - Eldon

This quilt was also in one of the videos and when I get over to Lolly's in a few minutes I'll take a few more pictures for you but here's some info to help answer your questions.

The pattern is called Eldon. It was designed by Edyta Sitar from Laundry Basket Quilts. It's a nice big quilt measuring 86" x 86" so it's perfect for a queen size bed. The pattern alone is $11.00 but.................. I have to take back what I said last night in the video about my fabric stash. The blend of colors they used in the kit with the same values and careful attention paid to the variety of prints selected make the $135 kit a real value in my opinion. $135 for a queen size quilt, including the borders - no wonder the girls were grabbing them last night while I was talking and shooting video. The binding might be in there too, not sure.

For those of you who asked how to order - just call Lolly's at (800)773-2119 and Kris, Mike or any of the staff can help you.

Another had to grab thing last night was the book Women of Influence. It's a great book, wonderful reading and lots of nice quilt patterns. Not just a set of 12 blocks. Ask about that too.

Shipshewana Dear Jane Retreat – Thurs. Night Dinner & Shopping at Lolly’s

Advertisements:

We were treated to a fantastic dinner at Lolly's tonight. It was held in their office area on the lower level. Fantastic menu of grilled chicken, coleslaw, scalloped potatoes, rolls and desserts. Yum, yum!

After dinner it was a mad rush upstairs for everyone to pick out six free fat quarters. It was like hunting for gold around the store.
Earlier in the day LuAnn and I were on our way to get a latte and couldn't resist sitting down after I took the picture of the boat for Diane.

Needless to say, we got more than our share of fat quarter fish!

Here's a few videos I took during our shopping tonight. There's so much more to see and I'll take more tomorrow when I'm there for some serious shopping. If there's something you see in one of the videos and you have a question, call Lolly's and describe it to them. I'm sure they'll be able to help you. If you click on their name you'll get all their contact information a quite a few of the kits are pictured there. Most every quilt hanging up in the videos has a kit or pattern available to make one like it.

This was one of my favorite's. It's called Eldon.

I'm going to see if I can make the video longer tomorrow so there aren't so many. I hope you enjoy them.

There were people sewing today.

What An Antique Quilt – Beyond The Cherry Trees Block 2

Advertisements:

At first glance you think these blocks are pretty simple red and green applique designs but let me tell you, nothing is symmetrical, square or straight in any way. What a dilemma! How much do you change? How symmetrical do you make them? What to do when a hidden quilting design overlaps from one block to the next? These are things I've really struggled with doing this easy block I chose for November.

You can get Block 2 here.

Here's what I came up with. I drafted the block more symmetrical than the original as you'll see when comparing the pattern to the photo of the antique block.

I'm going to draft the quilting motifs on individual pages with the seam lines marked where they overlap blocks and label which side belongs on which block. I'll post them separately.

The morning is about gone so I'm going to get dressed and head over to town. Diane wants a picture of the fat quarter boat at Lolly's and to answer the question "where is everyone in the sewing room"? We asked the same questions and have no clue. Maybe they were all tired and went to bed early!

The November Sally Post Floral Sampler Quilt block is posted too.
