Dear Jane Retreat Shipshewana Spring 2009 – Take me back!

Advertisements:

How is it that a week can seem like a lifetime? It was just 7 days ago we traveled home from Shipshewana still swooning over beautiful quilts, fabric, pie and friends. It's been busy around here. I haven't unpacked my sewing machine or looked at any new fabric. I did put together some final pictures to show you and pulled out some oldies too. My plan was to upload these last Monday but I was having trouble with the music I wanted to use and since I'm so stubborn I kept at it until I got it to play. It's all about mp3's, mp4a's and lots of geeky stuff I don't know much about.

For those of you who were following the boob fairy creation at the retreat, I'm happy to report that Schnitzy Titsy was given to the recipient this morning.

Aren't these the cutest little boobies?

Tomorrow is her big day so send some prayers her way.

That's all for now. I finally remembered to bring a box home from the store so I can ship Brenda her dirty clothes. I better pack up her treasures.

Shipshewana Dear Jane Retreat – Friday & Saturday

Advertisements:

The time has been flying by so quickly. Would you believe it's 1:45 am on Sunday and I'm just getting the Friday and Saturday pictures to you?

I didn't go on the bus trip to the Amish dinner and to see the quilt exhibit on Thursday. I was working feverishly on my 3" swap blocks until three in the morning. They had to be finished before our designated swap time of "Friday at 11". I couldn't believe my eyes when I woke up and the clock said 10:49am. I had to be sitting in my seat at the table in just 20 minutes. I brushed my teeth, fluffed the hair and hoped yesterday's Bare Escentuals makeup would hold up for another hour. We had so much fun swapping those little blocks. We'll have another set ready for the retreat this fall.

Friday was a busy day with the swapping and shopping. Show and Tell was at 7:30PM.
Theresa, Rebecca and I enjoyed the fish at The Blue Gate for dinner. It was busy but we made it back to the sewing room in time. I didn't have the best seat for taking pictures so I'll let you know as soon as someone uploads their photos. As always there were lots of beautiful quilts to see.

I have to get some sleep. Enjoy the pictures and I'll post more Sunday night after I'm home and Clutch and I have had a nap.

Dear Jane Shipshewana – Thursday

Advertisements:

Good morning - I can still say that because it's only 11:30 am. Some people stayed up until 2 am sewing and are just getting in the shower. I on the other hand had the good sense to go to bed at 1:30 am so I could be up early. So much for that plan - well, I was up at 8 and have been working on this post on and off since then.

I took 120 pictures yesterday and hope you'll enjoy today's slide show. I wish I had thought to take a picture of the herd of women waiting to check in when the sewing room opened. It was a hoot! The big red barn you'll see is where we stitch.

I didn't do much shopping yesterday. I picked up my Hello Betty fabric from Yoder's and bought every piece of the new Robert Kaufman chambrays at Lolly's. They are soooooo beautiful. They look like Kaffe Fassett shot cottons with the ombre look but I like the weight and feel of the cotton better. They're only $6 a yard. There's lots of kits and fabric packs in today's show. They're all from Lolly's and I'm sure they will mail things out if you'd like a little piece of Shipshewana or want more information.

It's a beautiful day outside so I going out to enjoy it. Still haven't started on those 3" blocks I need to make. They need to be finished by Friday at 11. Maybe a prayer would be in order!
