I hope you had a few minutes on Saturday to take a stitch or two in honor of National Quilting Day.
It was a quiet day around our house so I did a little stitching and a little drawing too.
After a few warm days last week I can feel the clear blue waters of northern Michigan tugging at me and see the warm, golden, summer sun sparkling on the lake. For me, it's not a far stretch from there to some blue and yellow fabrics and a quilt! I've got a new pattern for you. It's called Blue Lake which seems appropriate. My fabric pick - Sunshine from Moda Fabrics. Are you seeing a trend here?

The quilt is fast and easy to construct. No inset seams, no complicated color arrangement and no mitered borders. You just want to make sure there's enough contrast between the two fabrics you choose for the large squares in your blocks. It will give you a woven look, like the ripple of waves on the water (can you tell I was really into this?).

If you're not a fan of blue and yellow, I can see the quilt made from a group of Kaffe Fassett fabrics or how about black and white prints with a splash of red. I love the group from Blank Textiles called Calais
Whatever your color preference, enjoy the pattern!
