Just Takes 2â„¢ Quilt – Sept. 1 Quilt Blocks

Advertisements:

I can't believe it's September and Fall is right around the corner. I've even seen some of the leaves begin to turn their colors from summer green to crimson. I'm not ready! I don't know where the summer has gone but time waits for no one and today is another Just Takes 2 day.

There are only three blocks this time and a little embroidery if you're including that in your quilt.

Block 66

Block 67

Block 68

The embroidery design I used in this block is from the March 1 Collection. If you've been ordering the embroidery patterns you already have this design. If you need to order the March 1 Optional Redwork Embroidery you can find it HERE.

The Flower Basket Quilt is one of the new patterns in the Online Store this week. It's available as a digital download or in traditional print format. Originally published in 1934 the designs are great for applique, embroidery or both. You can use the designs in the pieced baskets of the 12" blocks making up the 76" x 93" quilt or as flower designs in other projects. There are 32 different flowers in beautiful bouquets. The pattern includes copies of the original newspaper clippings. Each block has color suggestions and all instructions from the original clippings. I hope you'll check it out!

Have fun with this group of Just Takes 2 blocks. If you have any problems please let me know and I'll do my best to help.

Be sure to visit Brenda's site to see some of her blocks and read the news about her husband Pete. They could use our prayers as Pete continues to heal.

Thursday at the AQS Show

Advertisements:

It was a busy, fun filled day. There was lots to do and lots to see. I had lunch with friends - Rosemary, Carla, Connie and Jeanne. We talked more than we ate and shared shopping treasures we'd found. The AQS Show has very strict rules about what you can put on the internet from the show so I'm still working on a way to share the hundreds of pictures we've taken. For today I'll let you see my shopping treasures. I think you'll be surprised to see what I bought. I know I am!

Roll n Rulers! I haven't bought rulers in years and years but these have great potential for designing, marking, quilting and other things I'm sure. You can draw straight lines, angles, circles and even ovals. I love ovals and I think that's what got me. They come with instruction booklets and there are YouTube videos showing you how to use them too. What do you think?

The next thing I went for was.............more rulers! I couldn't believe it either but I've been dreaming about quilts with lots and lots of pieces lately. These Bloc-Loc rulers are for trimming your half square triangle units. I can just see massive amounts of half square triangles in my future.

Wait til you see the cool "rotate your block" part. I think I'll use these rulers a lot.

My next purchase was really a treat to myself. It's Karen Kay Buckley's scissors. Everyone who has them just raves about how wonderful they are. They look like a larger version of my favorite applique and embroidery scissors by Elan I talked about in the post for Rosie - Wild Rose Needlebook tutorial so I'm looking forward to using them.

I also bought a pattern, leather handles and accessories to make a purse. Now comes the fun part - what fabrics to use!

I've been watching for official online information I can share with you about the show and here's a few more things to watch.

AQS Flash Mob

Not your grandma's quilting

The "check engine" light came on in the car on my way home from the show last night. That's never a good sign and the men in my life tell me it's a transmission issue. That is also never a good sign so..............stay tuned.
