It’s Been Almost A Month Since Shipshewana

Advertisements:

I know it seems like I've fallen off the face of the earth but I really haven't. It's just been one deadline after another and as my dear friend Brenda said "you need an assistant". Problem is, I can't afford to hire one so it's just lil' ol' me for now.

If you haven't already downloaded them, I did post the May block for the Beyond the Cherry Trees quilt and Sally Post Floral Sampler. That leaves finishing the Shipshewana Amish Mystery quilt and the Charm Square Twist for the So Sew Easy Schlep Bag as unfinished promises.

I received the first strike-offs for the Petticoats & Polka Dots fabric. I can't tell you what a strange feeling it is to see your name printed on the selvege.
Quilt Market is taking place next week in Minneapolis so be sure to ask your favorite shop owner to stop by the Blue Hill Fabrics booth and place their order for the whole collection. It will be shipping in September. They should also ask to see my second line "Lady Grace"!

I've been busy working on samples for the booth. It seems no matter how much you think you've figured it all out ahead of time there's still that last minute craziness getting ready for market. I can tell you that all of the orders from the Online Store have been sent out.

I'll show you pictures of what I've made as soon as I can but while you're waiting, grab a cup of coffee and take a look at my last couple of days in Shipshewana. I spent time at Sarah Davis Ltd. and then checked out some of the great quilt kits you can get at Lolly's Fabrics.

Shipshewana Dear Jane Retreat – Day 3

Advertisements:

Another wonderful day in paradise!!!!!!!! I don't know how else do describe it. It was sunny, 80 degrees, birds singing, friends all around and fabric, fabric to touch. Even a road contruction detour took me down a tree lined dirt road past Amish farms.

I know you're not seeing any Amish farms in this picture but I am kind of a fuss budget about doing my best to respect their wishes to not be in photographs.

Spent some time in Middlebury this afternoon at Gohn Brothers, my favorite Amish dry goods store. I also visited The Cinnamon Stick. It's right on Route 13. You've got to stop if you're in the area. It's a sister store to Sarah Davis in the Mercantile here in Shipshewana. My first stop in the morning is back to Lolly's and Sarah Davis. I bought a really cute new Vera Bradley travel make up bag in the black microfiber fabric with a zebra lining.

I took some pictures for you at Lolly's showing of some of great things available right now. If you see something you like just give them a call or send an email and it'll be at your door before you know it.
Here we go:

Shipshewana Dear Jane Retreat – Day 2

Advertisements:

Shipshewana is one of those places where the hands on the clock seem to move faster than they do at home. It's already Wednesday night! How is that possible? I'll try to catch you up on things but first I want to tell you how you can win some of the beautiful 1930s prints from Blue Hill Fabrics.

Here's what you need to do - Become a fan of Sentimental Stitches by clicking on the link in the side bar or go to the Sentimental Stitches facebook page and click on the link there. I'll keep track of everyone who does that between now and Sunday night when I get home from Shipshewana. On Monday I'll start drawing names until the fabric is gone. If you're already a facebook fan, leave me a comment here and I'll include you in the drawing.

Back to Shipshewana........Lolly's Fabrics is participating in the 1 Million Pillowcase Challenge. They've received over 300 pillowcases so far. Several of us are making a pillowcase a day while we're here. LaGrange county has a goal of 1000 pillowcases by this summer. If you can, make one or two along with us.

I promise, tomorrow is going to be picture day at Lolly's.

I spent a little while at Rebecca Haarar's shop today. She has some wonderful things in the store right how.

These are hand loomed on a local Amish farm.

They are made in a variety of lengths

They're woven from blue jean! How's that for living green!

The prices are fantastic and I'm sure Rebecca can package one up to mail if you're interested.

Rebecca's specialty really is her quilts. At least for us quilters that is.

This is a really beautiful Missouri Comet!

I really, really, really wanted this antique quilt. It's a local Mennonite piece.

There's always a great selection of tops, blocks and feedsacks to choose from.

How about this great 1930s quilt full of fantastic prints? Too late - this one's mine!
