Shipshewana Dear Jane Retreat Spring 2008

I am here and mighty thrilled to say so. The last week since we ended the Motifs of March fun has been a blur. I knew I wanted to be out of the rented house before I left for Shipshe but the weather was not cooperating with me at all. After last weekends shoveling mess.
Monday the drive didn't look too good but I did some more shoveling and prayed for sunshine. Tuesday I thought about giving it a try but chickened out. Wednesday I got brave and forged in only to come to a slipping halt once again. I didn't have snow up to the oil pan so I did the rocking routine and tried to put the Jeep in 4 wheel drive low. That was something I won't try again without lessons. Something about the gears meshing leads me to think I need a little more information on that so I went back to the rocking routine only to slide backward into a TREE! I broke the glass in the mirror on the drivers side and rotated that baby backwards to a position I've never seen. Got the shovel out again! Let me tell you, my back is getting a little sore by now. Friday was my day off and I had to get down the driveway by then so after shoveling myself out again I decided the snow melt I'd brought with me was going down as far as I could spread it.

On Friday when I got there, I said a prayer and turned in. The good Lord got me through the entrance and down the hill. I backed up to the cottage and nearly burst into tears I was so happy. Clutch and I moved things the rest of the day and after work on Saturday. I wanted to drive to Grand Rapids after work on Sunday so the move would need to be finished by then and the rented house cleaned. I adopted a "drop and run, we'll think about it later" attitude and you can see just what a mess I'll be facing when I get back from the retreat.

Right now I can't tell if the things I'm missing down here are back in Grand Rapids or buried somewhere in the cottage.

Here's a peek at yesterday's shopping and my stitching. Looks more like cutting doesn't it?

I have a huge room this time. Very nice but I don't spend much time here.

Now on with the day.

PS. I haven't had much, if any time to anwer questions from your comments or get orders filled on time so if you know the answer to a question please jump in there and help a fellow quilter. To those of you waiting for orders, I hope to look at that tomorrow and see what I can do.

The Grand Finale That Almost Wasn’t

Advertisements:

I had a terrible time deciding on what to post for the last day of the March Motifs. I poured through the three ring binders of designs I've collected over the years and finallydecided on a days of the week pattern since we've been doing days of the month.
While scanning them this morning before work I discovered there were only six designs. That's not usually a problem because most days of the week sets don't have a block for Sunday. This set has a little girl singing in church - duh - that's a design for Sunday! Which one was missing and where is it? I think we're missing "Washing on Monday" but by this time it's getting late so I decided we'll just stitch on Mondays until I can find our little girl doing the laundry.
I hate it when things like that happen but after my trip to the cottage yesterday it almost makes sense. After all my shoveling on Saturday and more on Sunday, I started to pull into the driveway and came to a spinning halt.

It seems the Jeep weighs a little more than Clutch and I do when we're walking and I guess I didn't shovel down far enough. After an hour of dragging snow out from under the Jeep and finally backing out, I decided I was wet, cold and tired so we went back to the house. I think we'll drive over tonight and hope the rain today has washed a bunch of that snow away.

This month has been great fun sharing patterns with you. I hope you've enjoyed it too. I think we should do it again soon.

I Want Tulips!

Advertisements:

It was sunny and 40 degrees yesterday so Clutch and I went to the cottage and shoveled down through about half of the 3 foot snow bank at the end of the driveway. Boy can I feel that this morning!

I loaded the car last night planning to remove enough of what's left of the snow bank for the Jeep to plow through the rest. It's only in the 30s right now and no sunshine. It's supposed to rain later today so I may have to alter my plans but am running out of time. I think we'll just bundle up and get to it.

tulips

After I'd shoveled myself into a hot flash accompanied with heavy breathing, we walked down the hill to the cottage. It was so beautiful and peaceful. I took off my jacket, sat on the deck in the sun and soaked it in. Clutch made the rounds taking in all the smells he missed all winter. The water has melted away about 5 feet from the shoreline which is encouraging. I couldn't find any flowers poking their heads up through the snow so that's why I'm wishing for tulips.

Everything was fine inside and it made me want to get back in there as soon as I can which should help motivate me through the cold weather this morning.

I can't believe tomorrow is the last day of the month. Wow!
